making the case for an arts focused city councilor in new london
Eddie Long has been creating art his whole life. He currently sits on the New London Arts Council,
overseeing their social media, and serves as co-chair to Public Art for Racial Justice Education.
He is a parent of two who loves funk music and ice cream.
As the Continuity Director at Cumulus Media New London,
home to Q105, 102.3 The Wolf and 980 AM WXLM, he is responsible for scheduling radio content
as well as creating the in-house marketing for all three radio stations.
He studied Graphic Design and Advertising at the Art Institute of Philadelphia,
though he was partial to acrylic painting and charcoal drawing.
Eddie has created online and print marketing for many businesses throughout New London
and he still practices freelance graphic design (sometimes) to this day.
Eddie is committed to a city government that honors the arts and the cultural vibrancy of our community.
With arts-related enterprises making up 50% of active downtown businesses,
New London's plans for economic development need to prioritize the needs of local artists
so they can continue to live, work, and showcase their talents here.
